This game is set in the Star Wars universe, between Episode 3 and Episode 4. You play Darth Vader’s Secret Apprentice. You start out the game hunting Jedi.

Star Wars The Force Unleashed (lite) (iTunes link) is a demo version. You can find the full game, here for US$5.99.

To be honest, I wasn’t impressed by the graphics. The Force Unleashed had better graphics on the PSP when I played it. It was too… boxy. Maybe the full version of the game would offer a better look.

So anyway, the game pretty much uses iPhone OS’s multitouch capabilities. Like for instance to lift items on the game you need to follow this:

There were other powers like Jedi Mindtricks that all use multitouch.
I was kind of bored with the game. I mean, the force powers are great don’t get me wrong. but i couldn’t get my character to rush enemies head on. I know, i know, expecting too much from a handheld game. This isn’t the PS3 mobile, just iPod. Still for the most part of the demo that I tried out. It was all multitouch.

At the end of the demo you are faced with a Jedi Master. Don’t expect to be slugging it out lightsaber to lightsaber with the guy. expect loads of repeated finger swinging to defeat the guy. Boring, I know!
I rate this 3 out 5. And to think I happen to be a huge Star Wars fan.
You got to check out Boxee Beta, which launched last January 7, 2010. It lets you watch videos from the internet and stored on your hard drives to your television.
The cool interface looks great! I imagined that it would be easy if you have a wireless keyboard and mouse combo. I mean, a wired keyboard and mouse, I have found to be too cumbersome to use when you are far away or in bed. So I decided to try the free Boxee remote app version 1.1.0 for the iPhone and iPod Touch (iTunes link).

Once installed and running, the first thing you need to be sure is that Boxee on your computer is already running and your computer’s firewall is not blocking port 8800. This is very important or else boxee on ipod/iphone won’t be able to see your computer running boxee.

You will notice that Boxee for iPhone/iPod Touch automatically searches for the host (your computer running boxee). if not, you have the option to manually add or search for it, then that works too. As the screenshot to your left shows.

The Boxee remote app would give you a choice whether to use Gestures or Buttons. The Gesture interface would show the Boxee logo and a Back button. As you drag the logo across the screen it changes to a red color to highlight whatever option you want on the TV screen.

The Buttons interface, would give you 4 direction arrows (up, down, left, and right), OK button, Back button, Stop Button, Play / Pause Button and a Volume slider. Personally, I still prefer the Buttons interface because of more control I get plus the volume controls. I should add that since the Boxee can be used to access internet content on your TV screen such as YouTube, Facebook and Twitter, whenever you need to input text the default iPhone/iPod Touch keyboard would appear.

If you click on the Now Playing button on the top right, a thumbnail of the video you are watching will be displayed. The Settings button would open some control options. Under Settings, you can edit and delete your host you have already chosen. Additional hosts can also be added here. You can also find a Sensitivity slider bar to control the responsiveness of the remote. Hoping future versions of the app, would also show a list of the available content available, playlist on queue and the history.
Sumo is a strategy game. I really have to read the entire tutorial in order to understand how to play it hehehehe
Rules of the game is as follows (from the developer’s website):
Sumo is a 2-player strategy game of battling Rikishi (sumo wrestlers). The board shows a dohyo (fighting space) consisting of 23 spaces, or ‘planks’. The Rikishi (sumo wrestlers) begin each bout at opposite ends of the dohyo and fight until one has knocked the other off the end of the dohyo, or until the ‘deck’ of thirty tiles is exhausted. Points are awarded for successful attacks and for being the furthest advanced at the end of each bout. The game is played over several bouts. The first to reach 80 points is the winner.
Basically, the goal is to knock your opponent off the bridge. You can also win the game by being further advanced on the bridge when the last tile was drawn.
Here are some points to remember:
- movement – select a SINGLE tile from your hand by clicking on it with the mouse, then click ‘Advance’ or ‘Retreat’. Your wrestler will advance or retreat the number of spaces indicated on the tile.
- attack – You can attack if you can play a tile that will move you directly on top of your opponent. If you wish to make a stronger attack, use more than one tile that MATCH the first (e.g., choosing all “4″ tiles if you’re 4 tiles away from your opponent)
- defense – After each attack, the defender has a chance to block or ‘reverse’ the attack by immediately playing tiles from their hand that MATCH the tiles played in the attack EXACTLY. If the defender cannot match the attack tiles, the attack is successful.

A little vocabulary for this game:
- Rikishi – Sumo Wrestler
- Dohyo – Fighting Space
- Planks – Spaces in a Dohyo
- Yokozuna – rank of grand champion
- Yori-Kiri – most commonly used kimarite consisting of pushing your opponent out of the dohyo with your body.
Sumo is made by Stinkbot LLC & available at iTunes AppStore for $2.99
This game is targetted for kids… the graphics are so cute and PINK!!!
The sounds are cutesy cutesy as well…
It’s a pretty simple game. The player will just need to find pairs of cards and if they get them correctly then the cards will disappear. He/She will continue to do that until all the cards are gone.
Wrong moves will be counted and that’s how the score will be derived.

How fast can your kid, godchild or niece/nephew clear the cards? How many mistakes have they committed with it? Is their memory sharp or good? better than yours?
Yum Memory is created by ObjectGraph & available at iTunes AppStore for $0.99 (currently free!).
If you ever played Boggle or Word Factory and you enjoyed it, then you’ll love Wurdle!
It is exactly the same. You find as many words as possible before time runs out.
This time, you won’t need paper & pen! wohoo!
You trace adjacent letters to spell a word, all you need is your finger so you can drag through the letters.
If you can’t find any words anymore and you still have time left, you can just shake your phone to mix up the letters. You will lose a few points though if you scramble the board.
When you finish a game, you can see the words you missed by viewing the word list. You’ll also see the longest words you created & your high score list for that time bracket.
Wurdle is totally customizable:
- Tile design – you can choose from 11 ready-made designs & what’s cooler? You can use your own photo as the tile background.
- Sound effect – turn on or off
- play time – 1, 2 or 3 minutes
- Board Grid Size – 4×4, 5×5, 6×6, 7×7 or 8×8
- Mininum Word Length – 3, 4 or 5 letters
- Dictionary (official word list for tournament scrabble) – TWL (US, Canada, Thailand & Israel) or SOWPODS (all other english speaking countries)
- Shuffle sensitivity – high, normal, low or off

One of the best word games on the iPhone.

This game is an interesting trivia game.
It presents you with questions and lets you guess if it’s true or false.
If you got it right, you’ll get a yehey and more information about the question asked of you.
If you got it wrong, you’ll get a buzz and also the correct information about the question.
<

This is pretty informative. I just realized how bad I am with trivia hahahaa
The price is currently down from $0.99 to free. I guess it got lots of bad reviews due to it’s having only 50 questions. The developers are currently doing a 2nd version but it’s not there yet.
True or False Trivia is created by TechReply & available for $0.99 (now free!) at iTunes AppStore.
This game reminds me of tap tap revolution in TimeZone! Now, I do seem to want to go there now.
Anyway, TTR is a tapping game to music. When you open the app you’ll be given choices, whether to download newest track available, one player, two players, download more tracks & options.
The object of the game is to click on the line where the beat hits the line at the same time. It will test how alert and how accurate you are in tapping it as the beat hits the white line at the end.
And what’s cool in this program, TTR comes with a lot of free songs! And every thursdays they feature a free new track from top artists w/c you can download. Complete list can be found here.
Every weekend they also offer a contest and their prizes are superb! I mean with a free program like this & the possibility of winning backstage passes, iTunes gift certificates or even iPods, what else can you ask for?

This game is created by Tapulous & available at iTunes AppStore for free.
This is really really a cool, coool game. The difficulty I have here is the controls. I can’t seem to control this game even after playing it for a few hours. Anyway, I will try to practice more often
One thing I love about this game is the sounds, superb sounds and music! wohooo!!
The purpose of the game is to guide the monkey in an invisible ball by tilting and rolling him through the maze in order to reach the goal. While doing this, he has to collect as many bananas as possible.
There are 5 worlds and 110 stages in this game. Each level gets harder as it progresses.
There are 4 monkeys to choose from:
- AiAi – has good balance.
- Meemee – has precise accuracy & movement.
- Baby – is the lightest of all monkeys.
- Gongon – is the heaviest of all monkeys.
There are 3 ways to play this game though.
- You can choose the main game – Wherein you go through each level. The frustrating part is, when I exit the game and wanna play this game. I have to start all over again. It doesnt seem to give you an option to start on where you left off.
- You can choose the instant play – it displays a random level for you to play in.
- You can choose the practice game – This doesn’t keep score. And this is just for practice. Good for those who are just starting to learn the controls of the game.
Here are some screenshots:

Here is the official product page.
This game is available through the AppStore (iTunes Store) at $9.99.
When I first heard that Spore will be available for iPhone, I got really excited..

I waited & waited then finally it was out! wohoo!
The goal is simple, you just have to eat the smaller organisms and avoid the bigger organisms (coz they will eat you!)..
When you feast on the small one, you’ll evolve into a bigger organism and will become stronger!
In order to play, you will just use your iPhone’s accelerometer to tilt, turn & twist so your creature can move.
Might not be easy as it looks..
The game starts showing a video of a meteor falling and landing into some place. If you know the story, please do leave a comment

Then you’ll come out as an organism, you’ll just need to tilt your phone so you can explore the area. Look for smaller organisms so you can feed on them. As soon as you get enough, level is complete. Avoid bigger organisms, don’t forget that.

Collect symbiosis (small dots/circles) for special powers like

What’s more? You can use Creature Editor to edit your oganism. You can do the ff.:
- Name it.
- customize texture
- customize shape
- customize color
- you can also customize the skin of your organism using your own personal pictures!
- customize body parts

Loving this game more on the iPhone than on the PC.
Spore Origins is created by Electronic Arts & available at iTunes AppStore for $9.99.
When friends go drinking or if they stay overnight in a place, the most popular game is spin the bottle. How about having this game on your iPhone?
Spin My Bottle is like a high-tech spin the bottle game. It just put a lot of twists about the game. There are lots of themes, sound effects, fully customizable.
We can use this application as the bottle if we can’t find one. You and your friends can gather around and put your iPhone in the middle so you can play it there.
To make the bottle spin, we push it with our finger. Best to touch the bottle cap to spin it, the more spin you do, the better you will score. You can also aim for a certain target, this is so you can practice your skill. To do that, you press the mid-part of the bottle or press the head on the upper right of the screen. An arrow will determine your target. Can you hit the target? It will take practice…
There are also several themes & we can also use our own photo!:
- canteen
- beach
- campfire
- sport
- picnic
- party
When you finish a game, you can see your statistics:
- difference between the target and destination of the bottle
- speed of the spin
- # of starts
- # of turns
- average turns

Unique app, I like it. Currently free for a limited time!
